[EastBayRI.com] February 23, 2006--John Bradshaw saw the large brass cross protruding from a trash pile near his Middletown home in December. He went back inside, but couldn't get the thought of that cross going to the waste station out of his head. "I said, hey I can't do this — I can't let this pass," said the 66-year-old retired Navy sonar technician. "Even where it was located, it was demeaning — it was sacrilege."
