ECUSA Bishops surveyed about Gene Robinson vote

[Anglican Mainstream] March 11, 2006-- A survey has been sent to all bishops in ECUSA by a group called Lay Episcopalians for the Anglican Communion writing from an address to which to return the surveys.

The survey asks the bishops how they would now vote, in a secret ballot, over the consecration of Gene Robinson as Bishop of New Hampshire; whether they would prefer that the 2003 General Convention had or had not supported the consecration, and about permitting procedures for the official recognition of same-sex couples.

The Church Times reports this group as anonymous, while a knowledgeable observer comments that the provision of an address means that the group can be identified and is therefore not anonymous. Mr James Ince a member of the group reports that many surveys have already been returned for the March 15 deadline.
