[The Wichita Eagle] 3 May 2007--The annual Old English Tea at St. James church is Saturday, and I'm determined to offer up better lemon curd tarts than I baked for this occasion last year.
These tarts are a beloved staple of the tea, introduced by a Mrs. Wintle when she first organized this popular fundraiser in 1921 (a job she had until the late 1950s). All over town this week, women of the church are using Mrs. Wintle's recipe to bake elegant flaky tart shells and perfect lemon curd filling to serve come teatime.
