An Ecclesiological Question for the Readers of Stand Firm

[Stand Firm] 3 Oct 2007--A small but growing number of purportedly orthodox clergy and lay theologians have begun to move in a similar direction; some even suggesting that the historic position with regard to human sexuality may be legitimately overturned so long as it is done decently and in good order with the approval of the various instruments of unity. Perhaps this movement toward compromise points to a deeper divide among the orthodox between those who see sexuality issues (especially as they relate to special revelation) as essential to the Faith and those who do not? Perhaps it reveals a division between those who are opposed to the practice of same sex blessings primarily because it represents a subversion of God’s Word and those who are opposed primarily because it was done apart from the proper conciliar process and authority? All of this leads me to pose two entirely hypothetical questions to Stand Firm readers that I invite you to answer in the threads below....
