More False Teaching from the Episcopal Church's Presiding Bishop

[North Plains Anglicans] 14 Jul 2008--What's so sad is that the lesson contains a full and specific interpretation of the parable. The Presiding Bishop ignores Jesus' specific explanation of "birds, rocks and thorns." In so doing, she shows herself to be "the path" on which there is no soil at all - the devil came and snatched away the word before the PB could even understand it.

And I can't help but be drawn to the "plants choked by thorns" in Jesus' warning. The "thorns" are "cares of the world and the lure of wealth." This Presiding Bishop is spending millions of church dollars to sue congregations for real estate and bank accounts. The word that God gave so generously to this PB is being choked by worldly desires and her church is fruitless - the fastest dying denomination in America.

Presiding Bishop Jeffert-Schori's misuse of the Scriptures is typical of liberal/revisionist preaching in the Episcopal Church today. A passage of Scripture is used as a launching stage for the preacher's own teaching. The connection of the sermon to its text is tenuous at best. I have encountered this kind of preaching in a number of Episcopal churches here in Kentucky, including Grace Church, Paducah, which the Presiding Jeffert-Schori visited this past May. When asked whether Christ was the only way to salvation, the Presiding Bishop did not give a straightforward answer but spoke about her own religious experiences.

From the perspective of the English Reformers and the Thirty-Nine Articles, a "church" in which the pure word of God is not preached is not a Church of Christ.
