The World Christian Encyclopaedia reported 3,157,000 church congregations worldwide in 1995, a number which had grown to 4,851,000 in 2010 according to the Atlas of Global Christianity, published last year. Assuming these two estimates are approximately correct, that’s a growth rate of over 110,000 churches worldwide per year, or almost 10,000 per month!
