Archbishop Tikhon of Philadelphia elected Metropolitan of the Orthodox Church of America


Archbishop Tikhon of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania has been elected Primate of the Orthodox Church in America.

Meeting at Holy Trinity Church in Parma, Ohio, 593 delegates elected the 46 year old convert from the Episcopal Church on the third ballot. Tikhon succeeds Metropolitan Jonah of Washington – also a convert from the Episcopal Church – as leader of the church. Read more

There can never be any spiritual unity with them. Such a fixation is a consequence of man not heeding the Reformation to its 'extreme'. Why does one want a relation with them? Because Protestants pretend an affinity with them; having been misplaced in Roman Catholicism. Many seek a 'mother church' that never was.

What an absolutely brilliant move, and I mean that in the most pejorative Irish usage, to appoint still another Episcopalian as their fearless leader! Bravo!
