Rev Pat Storey first woman Anglican bishop in Ireland

The Anglican church has appointed the UK and Ireland's first woman bishop.

Rev Pat Storey, a rector in Londonderry, was elected by the Church of Ireland as Bishop of Meath and Kildare, in the Republic of Ireland.

The married mother of two, who grew up in Belfast, said she was "excited and daunted" by the historic appointment. Keep reading

Anglican bishop calls for urgent action in war-affected Nuba Mountains

A bishop from Sudan has appealed for emergency action for the people affected by the war in Sudan’s Nuba Mountains.

Bishop of the Diocese of Kadugli, the Rt Revd Andudu Adam Elnail said people especially those from the villages of Kao Nyaro and Warne are facing starvation and death due to the humanitarian crises in the South Kordofan State of Sudan.

“Those who have managed to escape are now living under trees and getting soaked by the rains. They have no tents, no food, no safe drinking water, and no medicine,” he said. “Some organisations in the area have given them a little sorghum, which was not enough for all the people and some have already died.” Keep reading

Nigeria Police lied about their role in my freedom- Kidnapped Anglican Archbishop

The Archbishop was held for nine days by kidnappers.

The Nigerian police lied when it claimed it helped free a kidnapped Anglican cleric, the cleric has said.

The Archbishop of the Niger Delta Province of the Anglican Communion, Ignatius Kattey, was freed on September 14 after he was kidnapped on September 6 in Eleme, Rivers State. His wife, Beatrice, kidnapped at the same time with him, had been freed earlier. Keep reading
