This Saturday evening at dusk begins the Third Sunday of Advent. Three candles may be lit on the Advent wreath or candleholder. We have only twelve more days to Christmas Day. The Advent Season, the season of waiting and preparation, ends on Christmas Eve and the Christmas Season, the season of joyous celebration of our Savior’s birth, begins—not one quickly passing day of celebration but twelve days and nights of rejoicing.
The order of service for Saturday evening is taken from the Anglican Church of Canada’s The Book of Alternative Services (1985) and was chosen for its brevity, simplicity, and adaptability to online use.
The Scripture reading for Saturday evening’s service is Matthew 25: 14-30. It is the parable of the talents.
The title of the homily for Saturday evening’s service is “On Loan from God” It does not matter how much God has given us—a lot or very little. God expects us to use it in his service.
