All Hallows Evening Prayer is a service of worship in the evening for all pilgrims on the journey to the heavenly city.
In the Wizard of Id comic strip, the Golden Rule was “he who has the gold rules.” But Jesus had something entirely different in mind when he gave us what Anglican theologians would first call the “Golden Rule” in the seventeenth century. It is only one verse in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, but it is a very important guiding principle for Christians. The Scripture reading for this Saturday evening is Luke 6: 20-38 Jesus declares who is happy and who is to be pitied, and defines a new attitude towards life.
