UMC Baltimore-Washington Conference Allows 23 Churches to Disaffiliate amid LGBT Schism
Twenty-three congregations near Washington, D.C., have been given the green light to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church amid the mainline Protestant denomination's ongoing debate over homosexuality. At its annual meeting on Thursday, the UMC Baltimore-Washington Conference voted to approve the disaffiliation votes of 23 churches, which are located in the states of Maryland and West Virginia.
