Evangelism, Missions, and the Local Church

Researchers have found that “eighty percent of all Christians do not consistently witness for Christ” and “less than two percent are involved in the ministry of evangelism.” Failure to carry out the Great Commission is a major contributing factor to declining church attendance in the twenty-first century. Churches are not replacing the people that they are losing.

Churches are also becoming increasingly distracted by world concerns such as political and social activism, promoting various conservative and progressive causes, depending upon the leanings of church leaders and members. While a number of these causes may be worthwhile, they are not what our Lord commissioned his disciples and us to do. We need to return to the principal task that Jesus gave the Church.

Below you will find links to eight articles on the Pastors.com website related to evangelism and missions, which may prove useful to churches seeking to become more evangelistic and mission minded. A few of them I may have posted on Anglicans Ablaze in the past.
