All Saints Anglican asks court to kick out rowdy church-goers

A local Anglican church is asking the court to stop excommunicated Fort Bend residents from disrupting church services.

All Saints Anglican Church filed a lawsuit on Oct. 7 in the Harris County District Court against Augustine Ogbunugwu, Fort Bend resident Kanayo Obuekwe, Sugar Land residents David and Ifeyinwa Iloani and others, citing trespass, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and nuisance, among other things.

All Saints Anglican Church, the largest Anglican Church built by a Nigerian congregation in North America, says that since 2010, hostility and discord among church members has resulted in interrupted sermons, shouts, verbal and physical assaults, threats, insults, profanity, false gun charges, false police reports and other disruptive behaviors.

Warring factions in the church have forced leaders to hire security and to call the Harris County Sheriff’s Department several times within the last several weeks, according to the brief. To read more, click here.
