[American Anglican Council] January 30, 2006--On August 24, 2005, we submitted formal charges of canonical violations against the Rt. Rev. Andrew Smith, our diocesan bishop, to the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, the Most Rev. Frank Griswold. Canon law provides 90 days for the Presiding Bishop to seek advice and counsel before forwarding such charges to the Committee of Review. We note that the 90 days were up in late November, and we continue to await the Committee of Review’s judgment concerning a trial.
