[Anglican Mainstream] 21 Sep 2007--I recently picked up a copy of ‘The Handwriting on the Wall’ by the Episcopalian academic, Stephen Noll, from Trinity Episcopalian School of Ministry, now vice-chancellor of Uganda Christian University. Though this modest little book was published in 1998 - and accurately depicts the American situation of almost a decade ago now - parts of it sound as if they were written only yesterday. In fact, I found the window onto the 98 scene in the US all the more fascinating because of this double effect: echoes from the present kept coming to my mind as I read Stephen’s description of the state of affairs in the 90s.
