[Brantford Expositor] 7 Sep 2007--The city's oldest church is launching the newest one this weekend.
Grace Anglican, which dates to 1830, is planting a new congregation that will be distinctively "non-Anglican" in character, according to Rev. Dave Ponting, the church's minister.
Ponting promises an informal, blue-jean wearing, coffee-carrying, no-stained-glass-windows kind of group at Counterpoint, a church where the emphasis will be on praise and worship, interaction and God's grace.
The services will be non-sacramental, which means communion and baptism won't be offered more than a few times a year.
"For the old grandmother church of Brantford, it's pretty heretical," Ponting said this week.
