[Anglican Mainstream] 15 Dec 2007--Conservative bishops who boycott next year’s showcase Lambeth Conference risk being removed from senior Anglican councils and committees, the Archbishop of Canterbury has indicated.

In an unprecedented warning to Anglican leaders, Dr Rowan Williams also signalled that liberals who openly defy official policy on homosexuality could be stripped of prestigious roles.

Dr Williams sought to stamp his authority on the rapidly fragmenting Church in an Advent letter addressed to all the primates, the heads of the 38 independent provinces that make up the worldwide Communion.
