[EV News] 8 Dec 2008--The Daily Telegraph reports today that Oxford University Press has removed words associated with Christianity, British history and the countryside from its Junior Dictionary and replaced them with words like "blog", "broadband" and "celebrity".

Words such as bishop, chapel, christen, disciple, minister, parish, pew, psalm, pulpit, saint, sin, devil and vicar have all been removed from the 10,000 word Junior Dictionary.

OUP claims the changes are intended to show that Britain is now a modern, multicultural, multifaith society. However, academics and head teachers said that the changes to the 10,000 word Junior Dictionary could mean that children lose touch with Britain's heritage.
