Chris Sugden: Friendship – The heart of the Anglican Communion
The Anglican Church of West Africa covers six countries of which the largest is Ghana. I visited the Diocese of Sunyani in the northern Ghana in June. There the Anglican church has pursued a very traditional mission strategy – to begin a school for the children and a church to bring together the families for worship. It now has 70 basic schools and a senior high school in a population where over 40% of those aged six and over have never been to school. 75% of the schools are in deprived communities and are sometimes the only schools there. The schools seek to bring light and life of the gospel to the underprivileged. Read more
