Trend Watch: Prayer App Makes Commuting a Little More Sacred


The Church of England is soothing commuters' nerves and encouraging their souls with a new app featuring daily readings from the Book of Common Prayer. It's a high-tech delivery system for the old lectionary, offering scripture and prayers for every day of the year.

Now, instead of surfing Facebook or madly swiping in the Candy Crush Saga game, commuters can have easy devotions on their phone or tablet. The Church of England has seen a spike in online access of their website's Daily Prayer section, and increasing interest in tech-savvy ways for believers to connect and grow. Thomas Allain-Chapman, the developer of the app, says, "People are clearly using their smartphones or tablets to sit there and say daily prayer, this is a way of making that much easier and accessible."
