Spokane Parish: Members Evacuate, Lose Homes
Many parishioners of St. David’s Church in Spokane, Washington, had to evacuate over the weekend as a series of wildfires across Spokane County spread across thousands of acres on the afternoon of August 1. One family that has been part of the parish lost its home in the fire, and at least one, if not two, other families are at risk of losing their homes.

Listen close then. If you really want to show Christian love, then something has to happen when “wrongs” occur. These can be real or perceived wrongs. In the ESV, 1 Corinthians 13:5 is translated as “resentful”. A more literal interpretation is that love does not keep an accounting of wrongs. I want to dig into what this means and why a record of wrongs is not only unloving, but in the most basic sense it is unChristian.

Removing pastors and other church leaders as mandatory reporters is not a positive development. Churches do not have a good record of properly handling child abuse cases. They are apt to protect the organization rather than the child and further traumatize the victim.
