[Stand Firm] 12 Apr 2007--Few things are more controversial in Reformed circles than Tom Wright's interpretation (along with that of other New Perspective thinkers) of the Pauline gospel. Personally speaking, I find his interpretation of Philippians 3:9-10 especially acrobatic given the context of Philippians 3:1-8. I've read a good deal of his work on Paul and think that he tends to overplay his hand in several areas, not the least of which is his understanding of the righteousness of God and its role in justification. In any case, it is important for Anglicans of all stripes to pay attention to this debate as it could carry significant ramifications with regard to the relationship between evangelicals and anglo-catholics.
