A Church in Conflict: An Allegation of Manipulating the Vote

[El Bohemio] 17 Dec 2007--The Episcopal Church U.S.A. (ECUSA) on Friday, December 14, 2007 released a posting through Episcopal Life Online that may indicate the direction Presiding Bishop Katherine Jefferts-Schori will take in dealing with the breakaway Diocese of San Joaquin and its leader, Bishop John-David Schofield.

The posting carries no credit line to indicate authorship. It states, in part, that “if Schofield is considered to have abandoned the communion of the church, he would have two months to recant his position” and failing his doing so, “the matter would be referred to the full House of Bishops.” Should the House of Bishops concur, the Presiding Bishop “would depose the bishop” and declare his position vacant.
