[Lambeth Conference] 8 Feb 2008--Crook-whacking to TA
Earlier this week we wrote that:
…it seems a bit schizophrenic to us that Canterbury could be so concerned about strengthening ties with the Muslim community, while simultaneously ignoring the real and dire consequences of a member provinces actions. One wonders how the Archbishop of Canterbury can look Muslims in the face and encourage dialog while provinces responsible for the present crisis in the Communion go undisciplined.
Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury - or so the Government would have us believe - spoke with the BBC’s Christopher Landau this past Monday and told him that Sharia Law in the United Kingdom would be good for social cohesion. “There’s a place for finding what would be a constructive accommodation with some aspects of Muslim law, as we already do with some other aspects of religious law.”
