[Stand Firm] 13 Feb 2008--There are, on the face of it, two issues to be addressed by this committee: 1. the failure of certain North American bishops to place a moratorium on same sex blessings and 2. the consecration and ministry of extra-jurisdictional bishops. Both problems identified in this letter are assumed to be equally inconsistent with the Windsor Report. The ACO and the Archbishop have worked hard to create this perceived parity. It does not exist, however, in either the Report itself or the subsequent Primates' meetings that received, accepted, amended, and applied the Report. It is true that the Windsor Report was quite negative toward interventions, calling for them to cease. But it is also true that the Windsor Report was quite clear with regard to the cause of Communion division; that the interventions, though considered grievous, came largely as a result of and in response to the Communion dividing actions of the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Church of Canada.
