[The Living Church] 15 Feb 2008--The rector of one of the largest parishes in the Diocese of Pittsburgh and a long-time critic of Bishop Robert Duncan has called a group of 12 theologically conservative members of the clergy to join liberal members to work for internal reform of the diocese and The Episcopal Church.
The decision to go public over their disagreement with Bishop Duncan has increased tensions in at least some of the congregations overseen by the 12 priests, according to a diocesan spokesman. The 12 signed the letter as individuals, not on behalf of their congregations. After the letter became public, Edith M. Humphrey, a member of the diocese and a seminary professor at Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry, wrote a public statement of support for Bishop Duncan and encouraged other Pittsburgh laity to sign. The petition has drawn nearly 300 signatures in less than a week including several from parishes where the 12 serve.

Just to let you know, I am not a professor at Trinity, but at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. (It is a PCUSA Seminary, but I am an Anglican). The letter, though drafted by me, was not my idea alone, and was refined and modified by several others before it was offered for signing.
Thanks,
Edith
