Episcopal Cafe: ABC did not endorse actions of Southern Cone (The ACO Spin)

[Stand Firm] 11 Dec 2007--This is an oddly worded news blurb apparently sent from the Rev. Canon Dr. James M. Rosenthal Director of Communications at the ACO. At the very least it tells me that the ABC has not yet weighed in since the SJ vote and that Rosenthal felt the need to reiterate the ACO's previously articulated position on the matter not necessarily the ABC's. Archbishop Venables said earlier, if you remember, that the ABC knew of these potentialities with regard to several diocese and recognized their necessity. That does not, indeed, constitute "endorsement" but neither does it signal disapproval. Unless Rosenthal means to question Archbishop Venables' word on the matter, the best reading, I think, is that Rosenthal is spinning.
