In a culture where truth is increasingly subjective, Jesus is objectively truth.
John 8:31-32: "So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him, 'If you continue in My word, you really are My disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.' "
The religions of the world are replete with prophets who claim to speak on behalf of God. These prophets are said to speak truths that God wants to convey to mankind. However, Jesus claims something else about Himself. He claims to be the truth of God. Jesus doesn't just tell us truths about God; He is the ultimate expression of God.
The Gospel of John continually shows us that Jesus reveals God to mankind (John 1:18). Many ask the question "What is God like?" Scripture says the answer is Jesus. Jesus does the works of God and speaks the very words of God (8:28-29). To see and know Jesus is to see and know God. Just as Jesus taught His disciples, the path to knowing Jesus is abiding in His word. If we remain in His word, then we will be true disciples who know the truth about what God is like. Keep reading
