Ukraine’s Measles Outbreak Surpasses 2018 Record


Measles outbreaks related to vaccine hesitancy and anti vaxx misinformation

Many countries around the world are experiencing measles outbreaks, with the latest data indicating an overall 10 percent increase this year.

As of November 5, 2019, there have been 440,263 confirmed cases reported by 187 Member States to World Health Organization (WHO).

In the WHO's European region, the country of Ukraine has reported the most measles cases during 2019, with 56,802.

This data compares with about 54,000 measles cases in all of 2018, which was more measles cases than all of the European Union combined. Read More

Measles is not a harmless childhood disease. It not only can be fatal but it has lasting effects upon those who contract the disease. Parents and other care givers who refuse to have the children in their care vaccinated not only are putting the health and well-being of those children at risk, they are putting the health and well-being of other children at risk too.
