Global Methodism’s New Church


This week conservative United Methodists unveiled The Global Methodist Church, which will launch when the denomination formally splits. When will that split occur?

In my region of western Kentucky United Methodist churches are ubiquitous. With Baptist and Church of Christ churches they form the three churches most commonly found in every community or on its outskirts. They are also found in sparsely-populated rural areas. What concerns me is how this split may affect local Methodists. Will some find themselves churchless? The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted many local churches. How will this development affect them?
