All Hallows Evening Prayer is a service of worship in the evening for all pilgrims on the journey to the heavenly city.
Words have consequences. They may have consequences for us. They may have consequences for others. Words carelessly spoken in the heat of the moment would cost John the Baptist his life. Unknowingly to Herod Antipas, they would set in motion a chain of events that would lead to the death of Jesus and Herod Antipas’ own fall from power and banishment .
The reading appointed for this Sunday evening’ service is Mark 6:14-29 The Death of John the Baptist.
The homily is titled, “Careless Words.”
