All Hallows Evening Prayer is a service of worship in the evening for all pilgrims on the journey to the heavenly city.
When I was a child, it may have been easier to acquire standards of good behavior and fair dealing to guide an individual in life. The same principles were taught at home, school, and church.
In the twenty-first century numerous voices expressing often conflicting and contradictory principles vie for the attention of our children, our grandchildren, and ourselves on and off the internet. They are frequently expressed in actions rather than words. People are bullied, ghosted, flamed, and cancelled. To make matters worse, a number of those treating others in these ways describe themselves as Christians.
The Scripture reading for this Wednesday evening’s service is Luke 6: 27- 36 Love for Enemies.
The homily is titled “Whatever Happened to the Golden Rule?”
