All Hallows Evening Prayer for Sunday Evening (May 16, 2021)

All Hallows Evening Prayer is a service of worship in the evening for all pilgrims on the journey to the heavenly city.

How do we know that we have eternal life? The apostle John reminds us that we have God’s own testimony.

The Scripture reading for this Sunday evening is 1 John 5: 9-13 The Testimony of God.

The homily is titled, “Life in the Son”

The dismissal song, “All Will Be Well“ is Steven C Wagner’s adaptation of words from Chapter 32 of Julian of Norwich’s Revelations of Divine Love in which Dame Julian, an anchoress and mystic, recorded the “shewings” or visions of the Passion of Christ that received on her sickbed, when she was so seriously ill that she believed that she was on the point of death. “All Will Be Well” is available in octavo format, scored for SATB choir, cantor, assembly, keyboard, guitar, C instrument, and string trio, from GIA Publications. It is suitable for children.

The choral benediction is Elaine Hagenberg’s setting of the traditional Irish blessing “You Do Not Walk Alone” is available in SATB, TTBB, and SSAA voicings from Beckenhort Press Inc. for digital download. An accompaniment track is also available for digital download.
