This LifeWay Research article was originally posted last year. It draws attention to two trends which have continued into 2022. The average US churchgoer and the the average US church are headed in opposite directions. One thing that caught my attention is that, while mid-sized churches have opened their facilities to community use, this has not translated into greater community involvement. The implication is that they need to be doing more than opening their facilities to community use. A second thing that caught may attention is that, while larger churches are growing, they are experiencing lower rates of giving, volunteering, and participating. This appears to support the observation that, while a large churches can attract a crowd, they are not producing disciples. Read the Article
