All Hallows Evening Prayer is a service of worship in the evening for all pilgrims on the journey to the heavenly city.
One of the folkcrafts that I learned in elementary school was pottery. In university I was friends with a young English professor and his wife. His wife was a potter and was a member of a small collective of potters. She had her own workshop and potter’s wheel on which she threw pots and other ceramics. On one occasion I was privileged to attend a kiln party at which the pots and other ceramics they had made were fired in a traditional wood-fired kiln. Looking back, I believe that God may have put such experiences in my life so I might better understand his Word. The Scripture reading for this Saturday evening is Jeremiah 18: 1-12 The Potter and the Clay
The homily is titled “In the Hands of the Potter.”
