All Hallows Evening Prayer for Saturday Evening (October 9, 2021) Is Now Online.

All Hallows Evening Prayer is a service of worship in the evening for all pilgrims on the journey to the heavenly city.

One thing I have noticed about the hymns and songs we sing on Sundays and prayers we say, they display a real lack of trust in God’s presence. Scripture tells us that God is everywhere and all-knowing. God indwells the hearts of the faithful. But if we go by those hymns, songs, and prayers, God must be summoned to the place where we are gathered. It may be a carryover from pagan times when loud music was played to attract the attention of the gods who were presumed to be napping or pursuing one of their other favorite pastimes—wooing reluctant maidens, drinking beer, and gambling. When you are god, you have a lot of time on your hands.

The Scripture reading for this Saturday evening is Hebrews 4:12-16 For Our Help and Comfort—Jesus the Great High Priest

The homily is titled “A Friend Like No Other.”
