Welcome to All Hallows Evening Prayer, a service of worship in the evening for all pilgrims on the journey to the heavenly city.
In the midst of the bleakness of winter, we find ourselves yearning for the new leaves, the flowers, and the bird songs of spring. We not only yearn to see and hear the signs of the returning spring around us but also to experience new life in ourselves. God himself is behind our yearning for new life and God is the one who gifts us with new life. The Scripture reading for this Sunday evening is John 14: 15-21 The Promise of the Holy Spirit
The homily is titled, “The Holy Spirit—the Gift of God’s Presence in Us.”
The second psalm is Bernadette Farrell’s paraphrase of Psalm 139, “O God, You Search Me, and You Know Me,” also available from Oregon Catholic Press (OCP).
The dismissal song is “Dan Schutte’s “Send Us Your Spirit, O Lord,” also available from OCP.
